Yelp buys Turnstyle to expand targeting and offline attribution capabilities

I used to search Yelp solely to decide where to eat–both traveling and near home, but more and more I rely on it for all types of services (example: in-app quotes for removing a pesky dead tree trunk in our yard). Acquiring Turnstyle will open up a whole new set of data Yelp can utilize both on and offline. We’ll see where it goes.

Marijuana and Denver real estate in 2017, by the numbers

Thank you to my favorite little newsletter Denverite for these factoids related to cannabis and Denver real estate. For example, more than one-third of new industrial tenants in Denver were cannabis businesses from 2009-2014. In fact, warehouse vacancies fell by 50 percent in between 2010 and 2015, which presumably is directly due to legal cannabis. But it’s not all rosy for these warehouse tenants: As more growers come on board in Denver, the increased supply is driving lower costs (and probably fewer profits), which is a formidable challenge to overcome with costly rent and utilities.
