What We Read This Week – September 16, 2016

Sit back, relax, and catch up on what we read this week.

Adblock Plus finds the end-game of its business model: Selling ads

I found this headline in the “Not The Onion” subreddit, where users post stories with headlines so ridiculous you’d expect to see them in the satire publication The Onion. Here’s today’s story: Eyeo GmbH, the company that invented Adblock Plus, is launching… an advertising platform within Adblock Plus. Eyeo will determine if an ad meets their requirements, and then the company will begin advertising to those people (who previously downloaded Adblock Plus specifically to avoid advertisements). So, in downloading Adblock Plus—a platform that blocks ads—users will see more ads. Yep.

The Surprising 1960s Origins of Hillary’s Official Typeface
