How “Sesame Street” created Julia, the new Muppet with autism

Sunny day, sweeping the clouds away… ♫ Just hearing those piano notes puts you in a good mood, doesn’t it? The article I’m submitting this week is set on Sesame Street, where the creators introduced a new character named Julia. Julia has autism, and the creators worked closely with autism organizations and others to best portray a child with autism to preschoolers. Why? “Give children that information. She’s acting this way because she’s on the autism spectrum. But then, you can still be friends.” I love this story. Can you believe someone is trying to defund PBS?
