What We Read This Week – April 3, 2015

Check out what we READ this week starting with Amazon’s timely product launch. Or was it really a product launch at all?  Hmmmm… Read on.

Marketers Say Debuting Amazon Dash Right Before April Fools’ Day Was Genius
Joke or not, this is life changing! And, maybe a little frightening at the same time. Don’t let these near your kids.

Target makes art out of products in pop-up store
I love this…Target is not bringing Instagram to life by showcasing their products in a fresh, fun and unexpected way, they are also extending their brand within a community that most likely are not Target shoppers or loyalists, not to mention the PR play at work – I am sure this will be picked up by the press all over the place.

The new New Urbanism. Important learnings for creating urban environments that work today, and tomorrow.

Artist CJ Hendry Draws 50 Photorealistic Foods in 50 Days
This makes me want to bring back out my pen/pencil and paper and just get to drawing! Artist CJ Hendry draws some amazing works of art and she does it fast… 50 drawings in 50 days. Really puts my stick figures to shame.
Jeffrey Steffonich, Senior Designer

Clarks uses WhatsApp to narrate the story of the Clarks Desert Boot
Not sure if this is a first, but I’ve never seen someone try to do a WhatsApp campaign. My guess is this was a result of a attitudinal segmentation as the campaign is trying to get men to engage with fictional characters based upon their personalities, likes and aspirations, and then buy shoes because of it. Also a great use of integration, in addition to social media and texting, this also enhances the personalities of the characters with their taste in photos, music and videos.
