Our founder shares his thoughts on how the industry might evolve its terminology
It’s always an honor to be interviewed as an expert source via public relations efforts, but it’s especially significant when the publication is as esteemed and well-read as MarketWatch.
Our founder and CEO Jeff Cohn was asked to be a source for an article in MarketWatch recently around the topic of dropping the term “Master” (Master Bedroom, Master Bath) in real estate. In the article, “Real-estate reckoning on ‘master bedrooms’ as a racist term took place after years of discussion,” Jeff discusses the “internal brand” element to how terms like “master bedroom” might evolve, as well as how top influencing brands like HGTV can go a long way toward new terminology adoption.
“This needs to be looked at from a national perspective from an organization like National Association of Realtors,” Cohn said. “If they decide, ‘Yes, that’s where we want to go as an industry,’ that’s where you’ll see real change because it’s going to be it’s not going to be haphazard.”
