Proven Success in Public Relations
Our client Way To Go, a partnership between the Denver Regional Council of Governments and several transportation management associations, organizes the annual Bike To Work Day event throughout the Denver region. It’s the second largest Bike To Work Day event in the nation! Biking aficionados and first-time cyclists alike got some fresh air and enjoyed some treats at breakfast stations on the way to work.
It was such a treat to see the event get so much coverage and we enjoyed assisting the PR efforts to help get the word out. Our main goal was to transition first-time bike commuters into commuters who regularly choose two wheels and encourage them to consider a healthier, happier, less-costly commute choice.
An estimated 32,000 riders traveled 589,000 miles on Wednesday, June 22. This year’s Bike to Work Day highlights include:
- 37 percent of riders were first-time participants (more than 11,000)
- 779 businesses and organizations participated in the Business Challenge
- 260 breakfast, water and bike-home party stations
- Average one-way commute was 9.2 miles
We are so pleased with the results, and we can’t wait to get planning for next year’s event! Here is a high-level recap of some coverage, which included TV broadcast, TV online, print, online-only and radio:
