What We Watched – January 20th, 2017

January 20, 2017

Our team always seems to dig up the coolest videos. From robot-run hotels to inspiring commercials, here’s what we watched this week:

Inside the Japanese Hotel Staffed by Robots

This is about a year and a half old, but I just came across it and needed to share. Yes, the robots are ridiculous (the robot at the front desk is a poorly designed dinosaur), and the profiled hotel is 100% gimmicky, but it doesn’t take much imagination to visualize what could be under the direction of a proper hotelier. The benefits to staffing with robots are countless, but as the narrator poignantly concludes, will tomorrow’s travelers accept a hotel without human interaction? Is travel—business or pleasure—too cold and lonely without the occasional human conversation?

Little Boxes + Stroll Commercials

Each of these struck me as pretty unique. They both use a song as the main focal point and are each shot and filmed really well. My wife and I typically record shows and watch them later without commercials, and we each found ourselves not wanting to skip over these two commercials. Well done!

Mozilla Launches New Brand Identity

This week, I watched a short animated video on the new Mozilla brand redesign. Cool, modern and totally amazing!

GE flexes their muscle (or brains) with “Unimpossible” experience

From catching lightening in a bottle to evaluating a snowball’s chance in hell, GE shows that science can be pretty cool — while also making them industry experts in a wide range of “can it be done?” type experiments. Pretty cool stuff!
