What We Read This Week — May 5, 2017

From the first look at Target’s next-generation store concept to more updates on the epic Snapchat vs Instagram battle, here’s what we read this week.

First Look: Target’s next-generation store concept

Always intriguing to see how brick & mortar is adapting to the convenience of E-Commerce. Here’s a sneak peek at Target’s next gen store format. One of the biggest changes is the creation of two separate entrances: one for time-pressed shoppers and the other for people who want to leisurely shop.

Country’s largest climbing gym eyes vacant big box stores

As the #retailapocalyse draws nearer, Jason Blevins at The Denver Post looks at those empty big box stores and how one of the world’s most accomplished alpinists wants to turn them into indoor climbing centers. Pretty neat idea, if you ask me.

The Snapchat audience debate continues

Instagram is copying some of Snapchat’s video features, while the social media channels continue to battle over who has the h1est hold on the audience. While Snapchat is shadowed by Instagram’s sheer number of users, Snapchat still claims that 35% of their daily users aren’t reached on Facebook, and 46% aren’t found on Instagram.
