As part of a new addition to the annual Global Retail Real Estate Convention (RECon) in Las Vegas, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) has asked Cohn Marketing to staff and program the new Social Media Pavilion, which is designed to inform and educate convention attendees on the evolution of social media in retail today.
To staff and program the Social Media Pavilion at RECon 2011, Cohn Marketing is sending eight “socialites” to Las Vegas for the convention. In the days leading up to the convention, we’ll be profiling each of these experts in a quick and fun snapshot.

Senior Account Strategist and RECon Socialite Debbie Berschling will be attending RECon in Las Vegas next week.
1. What is your full name, your nickname and your imaginary friend’s name?
Full name: Deborah Ham Berschling, but I go by Debbie.
Nickname: Depending on who you ask, either Debbie Doom or Debbie Downer (just ask some of the Creative teams that I’ve worked with!)
Imaginary friends’ names: Oprah, Jonathan Adler or David Sedaris
2. How has social media changed your world?
Social Media has broadened my world yet connected me more closely with others, both personally and professionally.
3. What is your social media personality?
My social media personality turned out to be Foursquare. It does seem to suit me – I love to travel even though I don’t get out as much as I used to, so now I prefer to spend time with close friends and hear about their fabulous travels. Plus, my kids are both very comfortable on airplanes… and now I’m sure I just jinxed myself.
4. Where will you be spending your free time while in Las Vegas?
Free Time? LOL – IF there happens to be any, I’ll be at a FABULOUS restaurant or relaxing in the peaceful quiet of a spa somewhere – not very Vegas-like … I know.
Check back in tomorrow to meet our final “socialite” that will be staffing the Social Media Pavilion at RECon 2011. To find out which social media personality you are, visit the ICSC Facebook Page.
